Everton confirm Lewis Warrington exit as Kevin Thelwell shares transfer plan
Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell has explained why the club has allowed Lewis Warrington to join Plymouth Argyle on loan for the season.
The Blues confirmed on Wednesday evening that Warrington will spend the upcoming campaign at Home Park. The midfielder spent last season at Fleetwood Town.
During his time at Highbury, Warrington made 38 appearances for the League One club. The 20-year-old also enjoyed a six-month loan at Tranmere Rovers during the first half of 2022.
Warrington joined Everton Academy aged six and made his first-team debut for the Blues in a Carabao Cup tie at Fleetwood in August 2022. He also featured for Sean Dyche’s pre-season teams in the recent friendlies against FC Stade Nyonnais, Tranmere Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.

Explaining the thinking behind allowing Warrington to leave on loan, Thelwell said: "Lewis has benefited greatly from his previous loan spells, and we believe his move to Plymouth in a competitive league like the Championship will provide him with further key experience to support his development and help him continue the impressive progress he has made at Everton."
The Pilgrims, managed by fellow Everton Academy graduate Steven Schumacher, earned automatic promotion to the Championship last season after finishing top of League One.
