Everton transfer latest as Brian Brobbey becomes summer target
Everton are eyeing a move for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as Sean Dyche looks to bolster his attacking options.
The Blues netted a mere 34 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, with their main centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin playing less than half the matches for the second consecutive campaign and scoring just twice, one of which came from open play.
In an exclusive interview with the ECHO from their training camp on the shores of Lake Geneva last week, first team coach Steve Stone admitted that the side has been suffering from the lack of a focal point up front and with Calvert-Lewin still a doubt for their first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season at home to Fulham on August 12, Brobbey has emerged as a target.
Everton have been assessing a number of options throughout the summer with forward-thinking players their priority and the ECHO understands there is interest in trying to do a deal with Ajax for Brobbey, with 38-year-old free agent Ashley Young the only new face through the door so far this window.

A product of the fabled Ajax youth system where he worked alongside former Everton player John Heitinga, the centre-forward returned to Amsterdam a year ago and netted 13 goals in 32 Eredivisie games last term.
Currently 21, his season in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig in 2021/22 didn’t work out as he failed to score in 14 outings in all competitions.
Brobbey has scored nine goals in 17 matches for the Netherlands Under-21s side and represented them in the European Championship earlier this summer which was won by ex-Everton midfielder Lee
