The Football Association are not expected to punish Emma Hayes following an incident with Arsenal women's manager Jonas Eidevall during the League Cup final. Chelsea boss Hayes appeared to push Eidervall after her team lost 1-0 in extra time at Molineux on Sunday.
Hayes was caught on camera confronting Eidevall as their teams shook hands at full-time. Later, at her press conference, Hayes didn't hold back and vented her anger towards «male aggression.» Hayes is in her final months in charge of the side before leaving to lead the United States women's national team (USWNT).
«Fronting up to players, for me, that's unacceptable,» she said afterwards. «I'm disappointed and I told Jonas that. I don't think it's okay to behave like that. He got a yellow card, and he should have probably been sent off,» reports the Mirror.
But despite everything, she stays committed to fairness in the game: «I'm all for competing to win, I've never been booked in 12 years, my time here, I totally accept he's a winner and wants to win but his behaviour on the touchline wasn't acceptable.»
According to BBC Sport, the FA has decided not to take any action against Hayes, and she will be on the sidelines for Chelsea's upcoming Women's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Sunday, April 14. Chelsea are looking to recover from the defeat after Stina Blackstenius scored a late goal in the 116th minute to win the game and seal final heartbreak yet again in the Conti Cup.
Eidevall responded to Hayes' comment, saying, «I think that's a very irresponsible way of labelling the behaviour that I have, I don't feel comfortable with that label, I don't think it's the truth to do that, so I think it's very irresponsible to do that.»
