Chelsea fans have hit out at Mason Mount after comparing his muted farewell post to Thiago Silva's emotional message to supporters.
Silva broke down in tears as he talked of his 'indescribable love' for the cub that he only originally planned on representing for a single year when he signed.
By contrast, Mount, who spent 18 years at Chelsea after first joining as a youth player, cut a more detached figure in his goodbye post ahead of his £60million move to Manchester United last summer.
Supporters were under no illusions which of the two they felt was more genuine, with some even drawing further comparisons to the tearful message of Cesar Azpilicueta last July.
'“Why does Mason Mount still get hate from Chelsea fans?”' Wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter. 'Look at the difference, that’s why,' they noted, reflecting on the three farewell posts.
Another slammed Mount, saying: 'Being "Propa Chels" is something that's embedded in you, not just being a pampered Cobham graduate.'
'18 years vs 4 years. Still cannot get over this video of Mason Mount leaving. Now compare that to Thiago Silva.' Wrote a third.
Another supporter said: 'Tears man, Mason Mount had his farewell video in his drafts before dropping it.'
Speaking on Instagram last July, Mount admitted that his departure was unlikely to be a shock, considering the speculation that had surrounded his future in the preceding six months.
He said the time was right for him to move on before thanking various individuals for helping him on his journey at Chelsea, including former managers Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter and academy bosses Jim Fraser and Neil Bath.
