Former Arsenal man in Liverpool howler as Mohamed Salah given free gift
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner's huge howler contributed to Nottingham Forest's heavy defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
The goalkeeper left the Gunners in the summer after only one year in north London in hope of more regular minutes. Turner was second choice behind Aaron Ramsdale in Mikel Arteta's squad, making only seven appearances in total.
After completing his £10million move to the Midlands, Turner has played all ten of Forest's Premier League games so far. The USMNT star has kept two clean sheets in the process, keeping former Benfica star Odysseas Vlachodimos out of the side.
However, in Forest's 3-0 loss at Anfield on Sunday Turner had a moment to forget in the 77th minute. Dominik Szoboszlai's long ball over Forest's defence should have been easily dealt with but it ended in Salah tapping into the empty net after a mix-up between Turner and Harry Toffolo.
Replays show the left-back leaving the ball for Turner to sweep up just inside Forest's half, but the bounce beat the goalkeeper to gift Salah the chance to add a third.
The error concluded another difficult afternoon for Steve Cooper's side on Merseyside after Darin Nunez and Diogo Jota had put Liverpool 2-0 up with two goals in four minutes earlier on.
