Ireland international Callum Robinson faces an uncertain future at Cardiff City after being omitted from the squad for disciplinary reasons.
Manager Erol Bulut didn’t include defender Mahlon Romeo or striker Robinson for Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City due to “internal” matters.
While Romeo’s punishment is brief and he’s restored to the panel for Saturday’s Championship game against Millwall, there’s no clarity on Robinson’s situation.
"I said at the start of the season that discipline and respect is the most important thing for me," Bulut said.
"They were a little bit away from that.
"For Robbo, we will have a discussion. I will also have a talk with Mahlon but he will be back."
As a result of the exiling, Cardiff had only eight substitutes for their trip to Birmingham - their ninth victory of the season lifting them to ninth in the table.
Robinson was signed from West Bromwich Albion in September 2022, making 22 Championship appearances in this campaign and scoring one goal.
He had made just one in 2024, primarily due to injuries but Bulut was previously critical of the 29-year-old’s players workrate.
“He (Robinson) scored in the cup game against Blackburn,” the manager said in October. “But football, I will repeat myself, it’s not only about scoring and playing offensive football.
"Some players like to play with the ball, I appreciate, but without this they have to work for the team. I have problems with some of my players so they have to change it.
“Both Callum and Rubin are included in this. It’s not enough or what I am expecting from them to be in the starting XI. I cannot play with 10 players. I need 11.”
The most recent of Robinson’s 37 caps came in the penultimate Euro qualifier away to Netherlands
