Gabriel Jesus sends Man City major Premier League title warning with 'different' Arsenal claim
Gabriel Jesus has admitted that Arsenal were nervous in last season's Premier League title race but claimed that won't be a problem next term.
The Gunners led the league for the majority of the season but an end-of-season capitulation allowed Manchester City to win their third league title in a row, with Pep Guardiola's side eventually lifting the treble. One player who left City for north London last summer was Brazilian striker Jesus, who has now opened up on last season's disappointment.
When asked what went wrong during the final stages of the 2022/23 campaign, the 26-year-old said, via the club's official website: «Well it's difficult to know. But I believe sometimes at the end of the season, we were a little bit nervous as a team.
»They (City) were not nervous because normally they win, so that made a difference. I think this year we have more experience and it will be different."
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also echoed Jesus' sentiment, admitting that the three consecutive draws against Liverpool, West Ham United and Southampton proved to be the deciding factor in the race for the title.
«Yes, I think when he talks about that nervousness or insecurity or uncertainty in certain moments, I think that's related to a lot of key moments that happened, especially in the three conservative draws that we had», Arteta said when asked if his side had more experience now.
