Gary Neville names two Man United transfers that cannot happen after Erik ten Hag outburst

Manchester United will not cash in on their best young players amid a report that almost all of the squad are for sale in the summer, according to club legend Gary Neville.

It was reported this week that the club would listen to offers for most members of the squad, but Erik ten Hag has since branded that as ‘total c**p’. Although figures at United did not dispute the story, Ten Hag struck a different tone.

"It's a joke," Ten Hag said. "As long as I've worked, every summer, every window, I think 200 players are getting interest from Manchester United.

"We did some research which was untrue and also every summer we sell all of the players in our squad, which you make all of the headlines which are untrue.

"Be calm and take some responsibility when you make such a headline. Find a good source if there is some truth in it and this is totally c**p."

United are targeting three significant signings and are prepared to sell players they would rather keep in compliance with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. Neville is in some agreement with Ten Hag, outlining why the club wouldn’t even think about offers for two players in particular.

“If I had a pound for every time I saw a ridiculous headline, he said how can every player be for sale? He almost explained it,” Neville told Sky Sports. “To be fair, you know it’s not true, [Kobbie] Mainoo is not for sale, there’s no way that man can be for sale, so every player can’t be for sale, it’s impossible.
