Georges Mikautadze (23) is reborn at FC Metz. Having left Les Grenats in August 2023 to join Ajax, the Georgian international said he was “going mad” during his short stint in the Netherlands. Now flourishing once again in France, Mikautadze says that he feels that his parent club have “forgotten” about him.
Despite spending almost half of the season away from the club, Mikautadze is comfortably Metz’s top scorer in Ligue 1 this season. The Georgian has 10 league goals to his name; Matthieu Udol, Metz’s second-top scorer has just three goals to his name.
His goal against Le Havre AC on Sunday sees Metz, who had looked destined for the drop to Ligue 2, jump out of the relegation places. However, his revival is going unnoticed at Ajax. “Since I was loaned, I haven’t had any news. At Ajax, they’ve forgotten about me,” he told L’Équipe.
