A new award for the Best Player in Europe will be made available in 2024, according to new plans from Dubai-based Globe Soccer.
The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards were established in 2010, and have since grown from three awards to 21, with categories now recognising football's Best Youth Team, Transfer Deal, and Emerging Player.
Last year's awards saw 33 million fans vote for winners, with Karim Benzema and Alexia Putellas picking up the coveted Best Men's and Best Women's player awards respectively.
But Tuesday saw the unveiling of a new movement, with awards set to be handed out on a continental basis, before winners qualify for the finals of the annual Dubai awards ceremony.
The move will see of prizes given out in each of Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East, recognising categories such as Best Men's Player, Best Women's Player, Best Club, Best Agent.
Clubs from Europe have dominated all three award ceremonies in the past, yet Globe Soccer hope that the expansion of their 'Road To Dubai' series will see players of other continents receive recognition for their exploits.
'The Intercontinental Series will provide greater opportunities for those operating in global football, as well as allowing us to engage with even more fans,' claimed CEO and founder Tommaso Bendoni.
'The year-long 'Road to Dubai 'programme has been designed to ensure the ultimate focus remains on the emirate, while also enabling us to recognise clubs, players, coaches and managers, agents, directors, scouts, and other stakeholders from every corner of the world.'
The Dubai Soccer Awards were in part co-founded by super agent Jorge Mendes, and his client Ronaldo has repeatedly been recognised with six awards for Best Men's Player.
