Mason Greenwood has dropped yet another big clue that he is set to leave Manchester United with clear plans to move house.
The Red Devils’ academy graduate has spent the last season on loan with Spanish side Getafe - and has since scored 10 goals in all competitions. He was sent to Spain after being suspended by the club following charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges but Greenwood is still yet to return to the first-team fold at Old Trafford. Now, it looks unlikely that he ever will. According to The Sun, the striker’s £2m mansion is now up for rent. The six-bedroom pad is fully-furnished and is available for £14,000 per month.
The house was Greenwood’s residence during his time at United. Should he move on, a number of clubs are interested in acquiring his services.
Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are chasing him, while Borussia Dortmund recently joined the race for the 22-year-old’s signature. Meanwhile, Getafe president Angel Torres has revealed that Greenwood’s preference is to stay with his side.
Speaking earlier this month, he said: “If it depended on the boy, his parents and the club [Getafe], I think he would continue another year here. But Manchester United’s idea is to sell if there is a good offer, so we will have to wait. But I hope he is going to stay.”
Torres also confirmed that Barcelona had been in talks regarding the forward. Torres added: “Atletico has not asked me about Greenwood, I spoke with [Atletico CEO] Miguel Angel [Gil Marin] about other things. The only one who has asked me has been [Barca president] Joan Laporta when he was here.”
