Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is being eyed by both Real Madrid and Barcelona as he continues to impress away from Old Trafford.
The academy graduate was sent out on loan to Spanish side Getafe at the start of the season, after United confirmed he would be continuing his career away from the club. He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 15 appearances in all competitions.
That form has been good enough to see others take note of his performances. And a move to one of Spanish football’s two most successful clubs could potentially be on the horizon.
According to talkSPORT, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in acquiring his services. Los Blancos still need a forward following the departure of Karim Benzema, with former Stoke and Newcastle man Joselu not appearing to be a long-term option.
Barcelona boast 35-year-old Robert Lewandowski as their only out-and-out striker so could look to add to their attacking options sooner rather than later. Both clubs may have to wait to make a play for his signature though.
It is expected that Greenwood will see out his loan spell with Getafe before being sold by Man United next summer. His contract with the Red Devils is set to come to an end after the 2024/25 campaign.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are not the only clubs keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old. Previous reports claimed that a clutch of Premier League clubs were scouting him ahead of potential swoops.
