It's a first and a last for the AFC Champions League in the 2023/24 competition as clubs from around the Asian confederation battle on the pitch for continental supremacy.
This year's competition will be the first to mirror the intra-year calendar format, moving away from a full calendar year schedule and towards mirroring the European club league season.
It's also the first year with many of the new superstars who have joined Asian clubs, most notably from Saudi Arabia as Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane have made it through the qualifying rounds and into the group stage. Al Hilal also take part, with Neymar and Aleksandar Mitrovic having joined for the coming year.
However, it's the final year of the competition's current competitive format, as next year the AFC Champions League will split into three different tiered tournaments, much like UEFA boasts in Europe. With that, the top-tier tournament will be renamed the AFC Champions Elite and shrink it's participation pool to just 24 teams, with the addition of the AFC Champions League 2 and the AFC Challenge League.
