I like Sean Dyche but he has a big problem at Everton that doesn't sit right with me

Former Everton striker Francis Jeffers believes the proposed takeover of the club needs to be finalised soon after the “unbelievable” waste of money under Farhad Moshiri’s ownership.

It was announced on September 16 that 777 Partners signed an agreement with Moshiri to acquire his entire 94.1% stake in the club and closing of the transaction was expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2023 subject to regulatory approval but the Miami-based private investment firm are still waiting on a formal green light from the Premier League board.

Jeffers exclusively told Ladbrokes Fanzone: “You have to be concerned for Everton this season; you just don’t know what's going to happen in the next seven games and we've had a couple of points deductions already. It's quite obvious but whatever is going on off the pitch needs to be sorted, and quick.

“If I’m being honest, a lot of it is over my head because, as a footballer, I tend to just look at the team and what's happening on the pitch. I don’t know what’s happening with the takeover; one minute it looks like it’s happening, the next it's not but it needs to happen quick, and then we need to make sure we get some control over the spending at the club.

“When Farhad Moshiri came in, there was a lot of excitement, because it’s something we’d been wanting for so long; an owner who was going to come in and get us competing with teams at the very top, being able to bring in the best players. But the money that Everton have wasted in the Moshiri era is just unbelievable; there’s no other word for it.

“You look at the money that’s been spent, and wasted, and lost, on players... it's unbelievable. We need to see a clear direction of which way the club wants to move.”
