Luka Modric has opened up on his future with his Real Madrid contract up in the summer and he has not ruled out a sensational Premier League return.

The Croatia international spent four years in north London alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and Jermaine Defoe before signing for Real Madrid in 2012 where he has spent the last 12 years. Modric arrived the summer after Spurs won the Carabao Cup, but he did not miss out on trophies in the Spanish capital.

In total, Modric has won a staggering 23 trophies with Los Blancos which has included four consecutive Champions League triumphs. However, at 38, Modric is now reaching an important stage of his career with his contract at Madrid expiring this summer and no sign of a further extension arriving.

With all of that in mind, Modric has now opened up on his career as a whole, with a particular focus on his time at Tottenham which includes significant praise for the man who brought him to the Premier League, before offering a verdict on what's next.

«Coming to Tottenham was the right decision,» he told PL Stories: The Croatian Touch on Optus Sport. «If I could have written the script for how my career would develop, I couldn't have written it better than how everything has turned out. When you leave the Premier League, you don't just stop following it. I follow the league, especially the teams with Croatian players. Course, I still follow Tottenham.»
