It has been an incredible season for the Liverpool Academy, with no less than 17 players turning out for Jurgen Klopp’s first team.
While such a list includes Trent-Alexander Arnold, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Caoimhin Kelleher, the rest are all recent graduates, like Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley, or current starlets stepping up in the club’s hour of need. With the Reds’ list of absentees reaching as high as 14 players at one point, the presence of ‘Klopp’s kids’ has very much been needed since the turn of the year to fill the void left by the many walking wounded.
The highlight, of course, is a heavily-depleted Liverpool’s League Cup final win over Chelsea last month. Klopp’s matchday squad included seven academy graduates and starlets, not including Elliott and Kelleher, as Bradley started and Quansah, Bobby Clark, James McConnell and Jayden Danns all emerged from the bench.
Since the turn of the year, Bradley, Danns and Owen Beck have been handed Premier League debuts, while Clark has been handed his first start in the English top-flight. Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni have also been handed maiden appearances, with the latter, who is still only 16 years old, becoming the fourth-youngest player in the club’s history in the process.

Meanwhile, both Danns and Koumas also scored their first goals for the club in last month’s 3-0 FA Cup victory over Southampton.
