Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Barcelona on Thursday morning.
The Gunners began pre-season by drawing with FC Nurnberg and demolishing MLS All-Stars 5-0. However, Mikel Arteta’s side were presented with a setback as Manchester United handed the team a 2-0 defeat at the MetLife Stadium.
Arsenal were far from their best as goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho proved to be the difference between the two sides. The game was notable for seeing all three new signings Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz named in the starting XI, with the latter two forming a midfield trio with skipper Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners will be without several players for the game, though, with striker Folarin Balogun a doubt for the game. Rob Holding and Marquinhos are yet to feature in the USA tour, while Mohamed Elneny and Oleksandr Zinchenko have also been absent. Reiss Nelson will miss the rest of the tour because of a foot injury. Nicolas Pepre, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Cedric and Nuno Tavares are also recovering at London Colney.
Meanwhile, Barcelonna have added former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan and Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez as free transfers, as well as signing former Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu from Girona.
