Jamie Carragher has insisted David Moyes' departure from West Ham is a 'great decision' for all parties involved.
The Hammers have announced Moyes will leave his role as manager by 'mutual consent' when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Scotsman will be replaced by Julen Lopetegui, who has now agreed to takeover at the east London side ahead of the 2024/25 season.
And Jamie Carragher says the decision suits everyone as he heaped praise on Moyes successful spell at West Ham.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football programme, the former Liverpool defender said: 'I think it's a great decision all round for everybody.
'I think what it does now is it give the West Ham fans the chance in the next home game to really send him off with a salute that he thoroughly deserves.
'You goot to go back to 1980 under John Lyall when they won the FA Cup he was also the manager that got them to third in 1986. You think about how long ago that is, he's (Moyes) being West Ham's best manager.
'To win a European trophy i think is pretty special and he deserved that for his managerial career not just what he done at West Ham. He's been a top Prmeir League manager.
Carragher also believes Moyes will soon return to the Premier league due to his vast experience in the top flight .
He added: 'I think he will be back in the Premier League soon enough, soon enough next season or the year after because he know how to basically navigate a Premier League season.
'I think it's right all round. I can under some of the frustration with the style of football i get that. But result wise he's done a brilliant job for West Ham.'
