Speaking to RMC Sport, Olympique Lyonnais owner John Textor gave a coy response when questioned about the future of manager Fabio Grosso.
Grosso replaced Laurent Blanc in September but has won just one of his seven games in charge of Lyon. The team remains rock-bottom of Ligue 1, whilst some of the pillars of the dressing room are reportedly frustrated by some of the Italian’s decisions, with key players such as Rayan Cherki and Alexandre Lacazette being dropped in recent weeks. Grosso’s position in the dressing room has therefore been “weakened”, according to L’Équipe.
As a result, Grosso is coming under pressure, despite Textor’s public backing last week on social media. Speaking to Prime Video Sport after OL’s latest defeat on Sunday, Grosso said that he had also received assurances from the American owner.
However, as confirmed by Textor himself, there will be a meeting between the pair this week, and when questioned about Grosso’s future, Textor wasn’t exactly unequivocal in his support. “I like Fabio very much. I am going to be talking to him this week about how to address some of the deficiencies in performance and so we’ll see,” Textor told RMC Sport.
According to L’Équipe, should Lyon part ways with Grosso, an interim manager would likely take the helm.
