Bohemians grabbed a massive three points and bragging rights in a hotly contested North Dublin Derby, and in doing so brought an end to table toppers Shelbourne unbeaten start to the season thanks to a Jordan Flores brace, with Will Jarvis responding in the second half.
As the banner that was unfurled pregame on the Riverside stated: “It was the only show in Dublin town”. And it certainly lived up to its billing.
Following a planned five minute delay from the officials relating to a pay issue, the action finally got underway in front of the RTÉ cameras.
Within the first two minutes both sides had great chances to take the lead. Firstly, James Akintunde narrowly missed the top corner with a flicked header from Jordan Flores' in-swinging cross.
Then the hosts, looking to get back to winning ways after two draws with Derry City and Drogheda United, went straight down the other end with John Martin forcing Kacper Chorazka into an excellent save down to his right before JJ Lunney’s rebound was bravely blocked.

But having weathered the early storm the Gypsies, who were off the back of a frustrating home defeat to Waterford a week previous, were then gifted the chance to take the lead seven minutes before the break.
