The England international swapped Merseyside for Saudi Arabia in the summer in a shock £12million move to Al-Ettifaq.
He reunited with Reds icon Steven Gerrard - after the former Rangers and Aston Villa manager was appointed as the Ettifaq head coach. However, form has taken a downturn for the Dammam club as they sit eighth the Saudi Pro League and winless in the last two months, their last triumph coming on October 28.

Matt Hughes from the Daily Mail has reported that Henderson is eager to return to the English top-flight amid their slump.
In the report, Hughes claims that Henderson has told his Ettifaq teammates that he is assessing his options during the Pro League winter break.
Pressure is said to be mounting on Gerrard as their struggles continue and upon the return of the competition, he will be without one of his coaching staff after Ian Foster was appointed as the Plymouth Argyle manager.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made contact with Liverpool over in-demand attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho.
The 21-year-old is said to be attracting loan and permanent interest since returning from his loan spell with RB Leipzig. Carvalho was recalled following his short period in the Bundesliga after mustering just three starts for Die Roten Bullen - making just 15 appearances in total.
