Jude Bellingham showed his self-deprecating side by declaring that 'his life is a lie' as his mum helped him get dressed for the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
The 20-year-old is one of the hottest young talents in world football, a reputation that was made official as he took home the Kopa Trophy at the awards ceremony in Paris on Monday night.
Bellingham was one of three Real Madrid stars to make the journey as he joined Vinicius Jr & Linda Caicedo at the ceremony.
The Spanish giants filmed a behind-the-scenes video of their experience on their YouTube channel which featured interviews with the midfielder as he prepared for arguably his biggest night in football so far.
Speaking on the flight over, Bellingham said: «It’s the first time going to the Ballon d’Or Gala so I’m feeling really honoured and looking forward to tonight.
“It’s been a really good year of football.
»A really good year of development, learning and getting better and showing my talent to the world, so yeah, I’m really proud of the year I’ve had but I want to do more.”
The video then cut to Bellingham getting changed into his swanky Louis Vuitton suit for the Gala, with his mum, Denise, on hand to make sure that he looked his best.
As Denise sorted his bow tie, Bellingham could be heard saying: «All them people are so mature, I can’t even get changed on my own. My life’s a lie.”
Thankfully for Bellingham, he's likely to get plenty of opportunities to get dressed on his own for award ceremonies as he embarks upon a career that most can only dream of.
Since leaving Borussia Dortmund for Real Madrid, Bellingham has scored a staggering 13 goals in 13 matches for the Spanish giants, including three in three Champions League games.
It may have been the Kopa Trophy this time,
