Just two days before the Madrid derby, Bellingham withdraws from Real Madrid training as they prepare to take on Atlético Madrid.
Jude Bellingham has withdrawn from Real Madrid training due to stomach problems. The English midfielder is Madrid’s top scorer this season and has become one of Carlo Ancelotti’s leaders on the pitch in his short spell at the club.
With just two days to go before the Madrid derby against Atlético on Sunday, it is slightly concerning news for the club, although medical staff at Valdebebas believe he could still feature in this weekend’s derby with Los Blancos’ cross-city rivals.
Bellingham showed signs of fatigue after Madrid’s narrow 1-0 win over Union Berlin on Wednesday night, a game in which he scored the winning goal in the 94th minute. On Thursday, he trained without any problems, and it was this morning (Friday) when he felt unwell in a session that started in the gym before going out onto the pitch.
Bellingham is not a player who has suffered serious injuries in his career to date. In three seasons with Borussia Dortmund, he only missed four games. One of those was the final match of the season, which ultimately cost Dortmund the Bundesliga title.
