Jurgen Klopp makes Premier League title vow after Europa League exit

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged his side to «throw everything» into their quest to win the Premier League after their surprise elimination from the Europa League.

The Reds beat Atalanta 1-0 on Thursday evening but that was not enough to overturn the shocking 3-0 defeat from the first leg, with Liverpool crashing out of the competition at the quarter-final stage.

Having already been eliminated from the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United, the only silverware still available to the Carabao Cup winners is the Premier League, and Klopp wants his side to do everything in their power to get their hands on the trophy.

«We won the game and that's the reaction we wanted to show,» he told . «We knew that it would be difficult; Atalanta deserved to go through and that's fine and we can now focus on the league. That's exactly what we'll do from now.

»There are mixed emotions; disappointed that we're out, but I'm happy with big parts of the game. Let's put a line under this competition, we would've wished to go to Dublin. That didn't happen, and now we have one competition left and we throw everything we have into that."

Despite the disappointing elimination, Klopp was relieved to see Liverpool get back to winning ways after a run of three games without victory.

«The two results show we didn't lose it tonight, we lost it at home,» he explained. «It was clear that we gave ourselves a massive hurdle. But I liked the game a lot for a long time. The commitment, the power and the desire that the boys showed was incredible.
