Kylian Mbappe was given a brutal rating by L'Equipe following his "nightmare" performance as Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the Champions League.
In what is expected to be Mbappe's final appearance in Europe for PSG before leaving the club on a free transfer, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes thanks to a second-half goal from veteran defender Mats Hummels.
The result meant Dortmund beat PSG 2-0 on aggregate in their Champions League semi-final clash, meaning the Bundesliga side will now face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the final at Wembley on June 1.
And L'Equipe, who are known for their brutal player ratings, gave Mbappe 2/10 for his performance against Dortmund. "His last match with Paris in [the Champions League] looked like a nightmare," they wrote.
"Installed on the left side, the attacker was, for a long time, infinitely technically fragile. Dominated in the duel by Hummels, he almost never went one-on-one. He missed his shot from close range [36th minute] and narrowly missed the shot which hit the crossbar [86th minute].
"It was ultimately through his returning crosses that he was most dangerous. That's so little for a Ballon d'Or contender..." The publication was also highly critical of Ousmane Dembele, also giving his performance a 2/10 rating.
"He has embodied, sometimes single-handedly, the Parisian offensive [philosophy] in recent months," they wrote. "But [here] it was messy and disappointing. With too much waste in his passing game, dribbling [was] often inefficient.
