Last gasp submissions and teeth knocked out - Paddy Pimblett watches as Liverpool fighters dominate in Manchester

Cage Warriors 167 saw Luke Riley, Liam Gittens and Fran Breen secure victory in Manchester on Saturday as Liverpool fighters continue to dominate Europe's top MMA promotion.

The BEC Arena in Manchester was full of scousers to support the Next Generation MMA fighters who highlighted the card with the UFC's biggest stars Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann, UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall and UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edward watching on.

Liam 'The Nightmare' Gittins successfully defended his Cage Warriors Bantamweight World title against the Californian Roberto 'Green Light' Hernandez in a five round battle that saw Gittins win via rear naked choke in 1:48 of the final round.

The fight started with some bad blood as the fighters refused to touch gloves after the champion started calling himself 'The Stepfather' of Hernandez in the build-up.

The first round was a close one with strikes back and forth before 'The Nightmare' assumed control of proceedings from round two where he almost secured a rear naked choke and began the process of exhausting Hernandez.

The third round continued with Gittins executing a dominant ground and pound approach that had the American, Hernandez, in danger before he secured a very dangerous leg lock that saw Gittins visibly wincing and forcing his Next Gen teammate Luke Riley to turn his head from the fight as he simply couldn't watch, but Gittins showed his class as he escaped the submission and continued to dominate the depleted Hernandez for the rest of the fight.

The fourth round saw the champion pepper body shots to Hernandez and suck any fitness out of the body of the challenger.
