Chelsea are waiting on the fitness of some key players ahead of their trip to Arsenal on Tuesday. The Blues head into the game having suffered the disappointment of losing inside 90 minutes for the first time in over two months on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino's men battled bravely against Manchester City but were undone by poor finishing once again in a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. They must now raise themselves to go again, with the chance to massively boost their hopes of playing in Europe next season.
Overcoming Mikel Arteta's Arsenal won't be easy, though. The Gunners are still fighting for the Premier League title after beating Wolves 2-0 at the weekend. They could extend their lead at the top to three points temporarily despite losses to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich last week, denting their hopes on two fronts.
Chelsea may also be forced to play without keystone attacker Cole Palmer. The former Manchester City academy starlet played 90 minutes in the semi-final but was unable to find a way through to goal. He scored in the reverse fixture against Arsenal, but didn't train ahead of this game due to illness.
«We need to assess him tomorrow morning,» explained Pochettino. «But today, no, I don't believe he can be involved, but we need to assess him tomorrow and then we can decide.
»Even if he will be good tomorrow, maybe he is not in a condition to play. I hope he can recover from this situation as soon as possible and be involved again with the team."
