Tottenham will put the finishing touches to their preparations for the new season next weekend with the visit of Shakhtar Donetsk.
Spurs will welcome the 14-time Ukrainian champions to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Sunday (August 6) in a match dedicated to the people of Ukraine. The contest will raise funds for Shakhtar's charitable foundation, supporting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the country.
The game will be the club's penultimate pre-season friendly before they face Brentford in the opening weekend of the Premier League season. Ange Postecoglou's men will take on Barcelona in the 2023 edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy on Tuesday, August 8th at Barca's temporary home, Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
Postecoglou rotated his team heavily throughout the 5-1 win over Lion City Sailors in Singapore last week, having said before the clash: «I think tomorrow I won’t use everyone. With us missing a game, this was the game where I was going to give game time to just about everyone in the squad but with us missing a game I'll probably still focus on the guys who need a game.»
He also added: «So I'll probably do two two 11s again, which means some will miss out but they'll do some work and then we've got a full week of training after that.»
Spurs took a 31-man squad on pre-season but only named 24 for the game with Lion City Sailors. Harvey White and Alfie Devine were the only two players not used. The group available to Postecoglou is near fully fit, though Dane Scarlett missed the game with injury and was confirmed as an absentee prior to the fixture.
