Leandro Trossard's perfect Arsenal vs Chelsea moment speaks volumes after Mikel Arteta promise

Leandro Trossard has shown his true Arsenal colours after netting the opener against Chelsea on Tuesday evening. The Belgium international, fresh off his crucial goal against Wolves this past weekend, was again in the starting XI and he repaid the faith of Mikel Arteta after just five minutes.

A marauding run from Declan Rice allowed space to open for Trossard with the ball then played into his feet allowing him to take one touch before smashing past Dorde Petrovic. Following his early goal, the Gunners had far more chances to double their lead with Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Rice all going close.

Trossard, understandably high on confidence and filled with adrenaline, had more opportunities at goal but it was one moment in the middle of the pitch that brought the biggest celebration. As a loose ball looked set to run out of play, Trossard sprinted over to keep it in play but he was met by a firm challenge from Alfie Gilchrist.

As opposed to staying down, the 29-year-old got immediately back up to his feet before attempting to rile up the Emirates Stadium crowd by screaming and throwing his arms in the air, urging them to raise the noise.

Gilchrist, in for the injured Malo Gusto, did not appear to take his reaction too kindly with the 20-year-old shown a yellow card for a late and petty foul on Trossard. Marc Cucurella then felt Trossard's anger with the versatile attacker given a booking moments later.

Considering his recent form, Trossard is certainly feeling good and another goal has made his claim following the win over Wolves all that more telling. On describing his goal at Molineux, he said: «Maybe not the sweetest strike but I knew I had a small amount of time to hit the ball.
