For a long time, Liverpool's Anfield stadium didn't quite match the size of the club. But now, things have changed.

Liverpool, with its six European Cups and 19 league titles, had a stadium that didn't reflect its success. Especially when compared to other big clubs in Europe.

Even at home, Anfield was smaller than many of its rivals' stadiums, with Manchester United's ground being much bigger. But that's starting to change.

Liverpool's owners, FSG, have been working hard on the infrastructure around the club. They've put cash into making Anfield bigger. Instead of moving to a new stadium as originally planned, the American owners decided to stay put. And it looks like they made the right choice.

Anfield looks very different now compared to 10 years ago. The Main Stand was made bigger in 2016, increasing the number of seats from just over 40,000 to around 53,000.

And in June 2021, FSG got permission to make the Anfield Road Stand bigger to, increasing the number of seats to 61,000. That means Liverpool's stadium will finally be bigger than many of their rivals.

The project was hit with delays as the original contractor entered administration, but Liverpool are now within touching distance of completion. An upgraded capacity was in place for last week's game against Burnley, just a few hundred shy of the final number.

In total, 59,896 fans watched the game, a significant milestone, because it is close to edging above the maximum capacity of the Emirates - considered a state-of-the-art ground when Arsenal completed it at such great expense. Where will the
