Liverpool U18s earned a crucial win over old rivals Manchester United to put themselves in with a chance of winning a trophy.
The young Reds are taking part in the SuperCupNI, pitting four top teams against each other. In their second game of the tournament, Liverpool took on Manchester United at Coleraine Showgrounds and managed to earn a crucial victory.
A first half goal from Jayden Danns proved to be the difference between the two sides. However, there were also notable performances from Josh Davison in midfield and forward Trent Kone-Doherty, while goalkeeper Kornel Misciur proved to be crucial as Liverpool held on to the three points.

Man United spurned opportunities from Jack Moorehouse and Victor Musa to open the scoring, while Ethan Williams also fired wide for Liverpool’s rivals. With five minutes remaining, Man United forward Ashton Missin blazed the ball over the bar, which allowed the Reds to come away with a win.
The result means that Liverpool could win the trophy on Friday, if other results go their way. Keyrol Figueroa made headlines with a stunning strike for Liverpool in their opening game with Valencia, ending in a 1-1 draw.
The Spanish side continued to match Liverpool’s points tally, courtesy of a 3-2 win over Hertha Berlin on Wednesday. It leaves the two clubs level on points, heading into the final round of SuperCupNI matches.
Liverpool will take on Hertha Berlin on Friday, once again in Coleraine, hoping to better Valencia’s result. Meanwhile, Manchester United have lost both their games in the competition so far.
