Liverpool's attempts to win this Premier League title should come with a health warning.
Having seen Arsenal and Manchester City lay down the challenge on Wednesday with relatively routine home wins over Luton Town and Aston Villa, respectively, it was left to Jurgen Klopp's players to attempt to do likewise against a rock-bottom Sheffield United side, who had conceded a remarkably high 77 goals prior to kick-off.
But rather than breeze through what appeared, on paper, as close to a home banker as possible at Anfield, Liverpool's players once more put their supporters through the emotional wringer before emerging victorious with yet another performance that battled through adversity that was much of their own making after a below display for well over an hour.

If Klopp’s Wednesday claim that he didn’t even know Arsenal and City were in action later that evening sounded insincere at the time, the Liverpool manager can at least point to the fact that he no longer needs to. For now, at least.
This 3-1 win sees Klopp's team resume control of the Premier League's top spot, it knocks down one more fixture and leaves the new leaders just eight games from the most glorious send-off imaginable for their manager.
Keep winning and Klopp won't ever have to ask anyone how his title rivals have fared. He knows his team remain masters of their own destiny and that must be quite the position to be in as both the season and his own historic tenure at the club enter their final weeks.
