Alexis Mac Allister is set to miss Liverpool's next three fixtures after being sent off during Saturday's 3-1 victory over Bournemouth.
The World Cup winner, appearing in front of a home crowd at Anfield for the first time since his £35million move from Brighton during the summer, was shown a straight red card by referee Thomas Bramall after making contact with Ryan Christie deemed to be reckless.
A VAR check took place and chose to stand with the on-field decision of Bramall due to the fact Mac Allister's studs were raised and was deemed to have made a high point of contact on Christie.
Liverpool's No.10 is now in line to be unavailable for selection for next Sunday's away trip to Newcastle United, in addition to home clashes with Aston Villa (September 3) and Wolves (September 16).

Liverpool have the power to appeal this red card decision with the Football Association, which will result in a panel of experts determining whether Mac Allister was right to be dismissed at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp's side must also take in account the FA's stance on 'frivolous' appeals, which can result in a three-game ban being upgraded to four if the appeal is rejected.
An appeal can, however, be rejected without the punishment of an extra
