Liverpool will have gone eight days between matches by the time they take to the field against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Excluding the March international break, where the majority of Jurgen Klopp’s squad will have still flown across the globe and represented their respective countries, it’s the Reds’ longest respite since the Premier League winter break back in January.
They went 11 days between matches after beating Fulham 2-1 in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final at Anfield on January 21, before winning 4-0 away at Bournemouth on January 21.

Remarkably over the past 104 days, where they have taken to the field 24 times, they have enjoyed a full week between matches only once. That came between 3-1 and 4-1 victories over Burnley and Brentford respectively in mid-February.
Prior to that, there had been a six-day gap between that win over the Clarets and Liverpool’s 3-1 loss away at Arsenal on February 4, while the Reds were granted five days between their 1-0 victory away at Nottingham Forest on March 2 and 5-1 away thrashing of Sparta Prague on March 7.
But that was now 58 days ago. Playing 13 matches over the last eight weeks, Klopp’s men have continued to take to the pitch either every three or every four days. And we’re not even looking at the various kick-off times here, including that dreaded Saturday 12.30pm slot.
No wonder the German let loose at the Premier League’s intense schedule at his pre-match press conference on Friday!
