Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has explained why Jose Mourinho would have been an ideal candidate to be Jurgen Klopp's successor.
The Reds are preparing for a new era at Anfield that will dawn once Klopp leaves the club this summer. Klopp confirmed his decision back in January, and ever since there has been speculation around who could be his replacement.
News emerged last month that Feyenoord boss Arne Slot is expected to be the next Liverpool manager. However, Fowler believes that Mourinho may be a better candidate for the Reds.
Mourinho is currently out of work after leaving Roma back in January, where Daniele De Rossi was installed as his replacement. The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss has been linked with a return to management, and Fowler has explained why Mourinho would be a good option for the Reds.

“I could understand why you would get someone like a [Jose] Mourinho, a case in point would be Real Madrid, for example," Fowler told Crypto Casino LTD. "When Zinedine Zidane left for the second time in 2021, they didn’t go looking for a young and up-coming manager, they went for an experienced manager in Carlo Ancelotti.
“That experience and that know-how can definitely help a club in transition, but as long as the new manager coming in has the character to go and understand the club, the fans and the culture, then that can make it a little bit easier.
