Liverpool Pride returning this summer with major change

Pride in Liverpool is set to return to the city this summer but it will look completely different from previous years.

LCR Pride Foundation, the group behind the celebrations, have announced an additional festival day with Pride Classical - a world-class 32-piece orchestra that will take to the Liverpool Waterfront.

The new event will see an ensemble of star LGBT+ artists and an orchestra take to the stage to perform the best Pride anthems of the last 50 years on Friday, July 26. The event is ticketed as a means of keeping Saturday’s Pride march and festival free.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 4 Winner and Halewood-born drag artist Danny Beard is set to host and will be supported by Jerry Springer The Musical’s Alison Jiear. One further star performer is yet to be announced.

Danny Beard said: “I can't wait to bring Pride Classical to my home city of Liverpool. You can expect classic queer anthems delivered with big beard energy - it's going to be an incredible night and I'm just so excited.”

LCR Pride Foundation has also confirmed Pride in Liverpool’s main stage will return to the city’s waterfront site on Saturday, July 27.
