With reports from across the Channel indicating that Lucas Paquetá could be leaving West Ham for Manchester City, a move for the Brazilian could see a welcome windfall for the Brazilian’s former club Lyon.
Les Gones are in a difficult position this summer, given that their transfer business and wage bill are being monitored by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog – who took issue with the budget for the upcoming season presented by new owner John Textor.
Lyon had sold Paquetá to the Hammers for €61.63m including bonuses, and a 10% cut of the profit of a future transfer (and 15% of that going to the Brazilian’s club before that, Milan).
According to Foot Mercato this morning, the Conference League champions have turned down an €80m verbal offer and are holding out for €90m. The attacking midfielder himself is keen on the prospect of playing for the Treble winners, and has already agreed to move.
