Erling Haaland has congratulated Phil Foden on netting a hat-trick in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Brentford on Monday.
It is the second time Foden has scored a treble having first done so against Manchester United in October 2022. The England star takes his season total to 11 goals, meaning he now has 20 goal contributions for the campaign having also tallied nine assists.
The 23-year-old grabbed the equaliser just before the break after City had fallen behind to a Neal Muapy goal on 21 minutes. Foden then headed his side ahead eight minutes after half-time before completing his hat-trick with 20 minutes to go.

Haaland, who started his first game since suffering a foot injury in December, was one of the first to congratulate Foden after the match. Taking to Instagram, the Norway superstar wrote: “We keep going! +3. Congrats on your hat-trick @philfoden.”
Foden himself wrote on social media after the game, saying: “Buzzzinnnnn! What a night. So grateful.” Josko Gvardiol responded: “What a performance tonight!” while Jack Grealish added “Unbelievable Geoff”.
These are three valuable points for City, who now sit just two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand after the Reds lost 3-1 to Arsenal on Sunday evening. The Blues still have the trip to Anfield to make while Arsenal visit the Etihad Stadium in the final fixture of March.
City next play Everton at home on Sunday before travelling to Denmark the following Tuesday to take on Copenhagen in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash. Chelsea, Brentford again and Bournemouth await afterwards with a fifth
