Manchester City were only able to claim a draw in their previous Premier League fixture against Liverpool, a result that snapped their win streak of 23 home games in a row.
City must now look to restart their winning streak in the Etihad Stadium with a win against RB Leipzig in this Champions League group-stage tie.
RB Leipzig travel to Manchester in hope to reverse the result from their previous head-to-head that saw Manchester City dictate the game from start to finish.
Leipzig’s recent league form appears to be somewhat inconsistent. However, they currently sit just three points behind the reigning Premier League champions in their group and a win here would significantly bolster the confidence of this German squad.
Marco Rose will have to make alterations this time around as Pep Guardiola had him all figured out in the last match. Leipzig managed to score against the visiting City side, but this was their only shot on target of the game. The final score was 3-1, but if Manchester City had been more clinical it could have been a lot more.
With this tie returning to the Etihad, Manchester City will be eager to restart their winning form in front of the home fans. City appeared to rely on substitutes last time out, with both Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku being the difference makers from off the bench.
Even though the goals came late, City were in full control of the tie and led at half-time with the German outfit failing to record a single shot on target. It is hard to see Guardiola looking to fix something that isn’t broken, and City will look to lead this game from the early stages.
