Manchester City have been dealt another injury blow after Kevin De Bruyne pulled out of the Belgium squad for the upcoming international break due to a groin issue.
The 32-year-old has been out for much of the season due to hamstring injury sustained in the opening game against Burnley. Since his return however he has been in sublime form, scoring twice and assisting 12 goals in just 12 appearances.
Now though it appears that he is set for another spell on the sidelines after sustaining a fresh muscle problem. “I don’t know whether it has something to do with his hamstrings," Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco said after confirming his omission from the national team squad. «It is an injury to his groin.
“We learned of Kevin De Bruyne’s injury yesterday. I spoke with him and the doctor. We decided to take zero risks. We want to give him time to recover. This is not the time to take risks with our players, three months before the Euros.”
City host Arsenal in a top of the table clash in the first game back after the international break on March 31. Pep Guardiola's men are already set to be without Ederson who will be out for up to four weeks with a muscle injury sustained in the 1-1 draw at Liverpool last Sunday.
