Douglas Luiz namechecked Manchester United's defeat to Fulham and described it as 'good' for Aston Villa when reflecting on his team's win at the weekend.
Although Harry Maguire equalised in the 89th minute against Fulham, the London club scored a dramatic matchwinner late in added time when United committed bodies forward.
Fulham broke on the counter-attack and Alex Iwobi scored to win the game 2-1. The defeat ended United's unbeaten run in 2024 and it also represented a huge blow to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, with Aston Villa winning against Nottingham Forest.

Garnacho good but Fernandes poor
Villa comfortably won 4-2 against Forest on Saturday and they now sit eight points clear of United in the league table, while they also have a vastly superior goal difference.
Douglas Luiz, whose celebration when scoring against United earlier this month annoyed some fans, scored a brace against Forest and he spoke after the win.
The Brazilian discussed the importance of the victory and he namechecked United's defeat to Fulham. “We’re really happy,” he told Villa TV.
“It’s a big result for us, it’s great. The team could control the game after scoring the four goals and you need to keep going.
“It’s a good result for us, Manchester United lost today, which is good for us too. We need to keep going.
“I scored two goals, I’m really happy. I was feeling this before the game, I said to my girlfriend, ‘Today, I score, 100 per cent’ and I come to the pitch and score twice. I’m really happy for the performance of the team.”
United and Villa both have Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal still to play this season.
