Mauricio Pochettino could start a new job as early as July following his exit from Chelsea after just one season. Earlier this week, following a number of meetings to review his first campaign at Stamford Bridge, the decision was made for the Blues and Pochettino to mutually part ways.
In the wake of his imminent exit, Thomas Frank, Enzo Maresca, Sebastian Hoeness and Kieran McKenna have all emerged on the replacement shortlist. Even though pre-season does not begin until July 4 for non-internationals, Chelsea are keen to appoint a new head coach in just a few days.
There is no clear frontrunner at the moment but it has been reported there would be some difficulty in appointing Hoeness after his superb season at Stuttgart. Meanwhile, McKenna looks set to turn down a new contract at Ipswich Town following interest from Brighton and now Chelsea, according to BBC Sport.
As for Pochettino's managerial future, a break is not entirely out of the equation however Manchester United could look to appoint him if Erik ten Hag departs and now another potential new job has emerged.
The Telegraph claim that Pochettino is under consideration to become the England manager if Gareth Southgate departs after Euro 2024. It has also been claimed that Al-Ittihad are expected to enquire over his availability through the Saudi Arabian club's club’s sporting director Ramon Planes, who worked with the Argentine at Espanyol.
However, it would appear difficult for Pochettino to turn down the England job, if it does become available having already made his feelings clear on the role.
