Chelsea talent Carney Chukwuemeka could be set to leave the club on loan for the 2023/24 campaign. The youngster will be hoping to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino during pre-season — but with midfield reinforcements expected to come into the club — it could see Chukwuemeka be sent out on loan to help his development.
The 19-year-old made 15 appearances for the Blues last season after signing from Aston Villa for a fee in the region of £20million after making his Premier League debut at just 17 years of age. Chukwuemeka is considered to be one of England's most talented young players and is a regular fixture for the Under-20s national team.
Chelsea's ownership group, BluesCo 22 Limited, recently acquired a huge stake in French club Strasbourg and are aiming to use it partly as a feeder club to develop young talents. New signings Angelo Gabriel and Diego Moreira could both be sent on loan to Strasbourg — who have appointed Patrick Vieira as their new manager.
If Chukwuemeka fails to prove he deserves to stay at Stamford Bridge during pre-season, Pochettino may look to send him on loan to the Ligue 1 side for the 2023/24 season, as per GiveMeSport. The Chelsea boss will be hoping that the 19-year-old would be able to enjoy a similar growth in development to that of Arsenal star William Saliba.
The French defender signed for the Gunners back in 2019 before being sent out on loan for the first three years of his career at the Emirates Stadium. Saliba made a huge step forward in his development during the 2021/22 season after joining Marseille on loan.
The Arsenal star returned to Mikel Arteta's squad last summer and was a standout performer as the north Londoners challenged Manchester City for the Premier League title.
