Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted his happiness must be factored into any decision about his future this summer.
As reported back in February, the plan has always been for Pochettino to sit down with those in charge at Stamford Bridge for a formal review of the season. That meeting will see Pochettino's performance evaluated but the boss will also get the chance to give his thoughts on how Chelsea have been run at board level this year.
«The way we work is to sit with the sporting director,» Pochettino told Friday's press conference. «We are already working to plan the pre-season, the pre-season tour, to start the pre-season here. We had some meetings and we are working with the responsibility to organise the next season and of course working in the future.»
Asked whether fans could expect him to remain in charge, Pochettino insisted the final decision will not be made solely by co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, instead arguing his management team must also decide whether they want to keep working with those in charge.
«Look, it's not important,» he began. «The most important thing is to keep going, working. If we are all happy, not only the owners happy with us, or the sporting directors with us, or us with all the organisation that the club is building here, because of them we are all under assessment.
»If we are happy, perfect. But it is not only if the owners are happy or the sporting directors are happy. If we are happy, you need to ask us, also, because maybe we are not happy and we accept the situation and then we are not happy and we need to split. [It would not be] be the first time the coaching staff at the end of the season decide to not keep going.
