If you were one of the 55,000 Manchester City fans at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, you might have noticed - or heard - something a little different before kick-off.
City beat Brentford in the rain to move to within a point of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, extending their unbeaten home record to 35 games. The Blues have made their home a fortress, and regular match-goers will be familiar with the voice of PA announcer Alex Kirkley, who brings his enthusiasm to matchdays over the tannoy - especially when City score.
Against Brentford, however, Kirkley took a back seat, as nine-year-old Nate was given a unique opportunity to read the teams out ahead of kick-off after impressing City with his passion for stadium announcing.

Lifelong City fan Nate comes from a family of Blues, and loves the idea of being a stadium announcer. Nate regularly watches videos of Jackson announcing the team inside and outside the ground. Nate will practice his announcing at least twice a day and his favourite activity is to watch videos of the Tunnel Camera on repeat – announcing the arrival of the City team when they get off the team coach.
At home, Nate has his own announcer kit, with a microphone and glowing speaker, which he prepares for each game. So his dad, Matt, had written to City in October to highlight his son's unique passion hoping to encourage his son. City arranged for Nate to attend the recent FA Cup game against Huddersfield to shadow Kirkley in the PA room, and then went one better by appointing him as Apprentice Announcer for the Brentford fixture.
