Micah Richards has named Steven Gerrard as the best midfielder he has ever had the pleasure of playing alongside in his professional career.
The pair shared the pitch a total of 11 times internationally for England during an era in which most consider the Three Lions to have significantly underperformed due to the sheer amount of talent available to then-manager Sven Goran Eriksson.
Often coming up against one another at club level for Manchester City and Liverpool, Richards did admit two of his former Blues' team-mates came close in his rankings but also added how the former Reds captain was simply a man who could do it all on the football pitch.

‘’When I talk about Steven Gerrard and when people say who the best midfielder I have ever played with, I often say David Silva and Yaya Toure for Man City, but for England Gerrard was just a different animal," began the former Fiorentina man via The Rest is Football Podcast.
"He could galvanise a whole stadium by putting in a tackle in the first 30 seconds of a game. But not only that he would spray a 50-yard 'diag' and then shoot from 40 yards, I have never seen a more complete player that I have played with.
"When I talk about Yaya Toure he was great technicality, strong, but missed the defensive part and he was not great defensively. David Silva was very technical he could open up doors with his passing but Gerrard could do it all. What he created, playing for Champions Leagues, he was the man.”
Gerrard made an incredible 710 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 185 goals in an illustrious Anfield career.
