Michael Owen explains Mohamed Salah theory after Jurgen Klopp Liverpool argument

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has explained what he didn't like about Mohamed Salah's public touchline row with Jurgen Klopp.

Last month saw the Reds draw 2-2 with West Ham in the Premier League, which dealt a further blow to Liverpool's hopes of beating Manchester City and Arsenal to the league title. Salah was named on the bench by Klopp and was introduced in the 79th minute at the London Stadium.

Moments before being substituted, Salah and Klopp had a heated exchange on the touchline in full view of the TV cameras. After the final whistle, Salah was spotted walking through the mixed zone and told reporters: "There is going to be fire today if I speak."

Salah returned to the starting line-up a week later in Sunday's clash against Tottenham Hotspur, where he scored the opening goal in a 4-2 win. Owen, who scored 158 goals across his career at Anfield, has explained why he did not like Salah's touchline frustrations with Klopp.

“[Mohamed] Salah's spat with [Jurgen] Klopp was not ideal," Owen told Gambling Zone. "I can get his [Salah] frustration if it was because of a lack of time, he is not used to being on the bench, he probably wants to win the Golden Boot. He's just a competitor who wants to win all the time.

“The best thing would be to put your head down, people around the world point to it and say look at the money you earn, but they are human beings too and they have feelings.

"I love that he is a real winner and wants to be on the pitch all the time to score, all the time. I love all that.
