Arsenal are continuing to negotiate new long-term contracts for a number of key players in Mikel Arteta's squad. In the last 12 months, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Aaron Ramsdale have all signed new deals.
Following Odegaard's contract extension, Edu's comments suggested the Arsenal chief knows what he must continue to do to protect the club's future. «To agree and complete a new contract with Martin is such great news for us all,» he said as quoted by Arsenal's official website.
«He is our captain, an experienced international and a player who gives us so much quality and joy every time he plays for us. Martin is still only 24 years old, so there’s still much more to come from him, and we’re delighted that we will be together in the forthcoming years.
»Our aim is to keep our best players, and with Martin now also included, we’re pleased to have completed new long-term contracts with a number of our most important young players in recent months," Edu added. Whilst it remains important to retain Arteta's key players in the senior squad, the Gunners must focus on securing the futures of talented youngsters in the academy ranks.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the north London outfit are planning to hold talks with young starlet Amario Cozier-Duberry. Romano said: «Arsenal are planning talks with Amario Cozier-Duberry over a new contract in the next weeks.
»His current contract is expiring next summer. Several Premier League clubs and teams across Europe are monitoring his situation at the Emirates Stadium."
