Mikel Arteta makes Eddie Nketiah transfer decision as Arsenal consider first January deal
Arsenal have reportedly rejected an enquiry to sign Eddie Nketiah from Crystal Palace ahead of the January transfer window. The Gunners are in the market for a new striker, but are unwilling to let the Hale End graduate leave the Emirates Stadium at present.
A report from Mail Sport stated Palace are interested inNketiah but have seen an initial enquiry turned down by Arsenal. The Eagles want to sign a new striker and are long term admirers of the Gunners' forward.
The report adds that Palace have been informed that, as things stand, the forward is not available during the January window. It is unclear at this stage whether that stance on the 24-year-old’s future changes towards the latter part of the window.
Palace will be among the clubs in the mix to land the Arsenal academy graduate if things change with Mikel Arteta keen on signing a new striker. The Gunners' decision on whether to let Nketiah depart will likely depend on whether they can land a new No.9 in the winter transfer window, after being linked with moves for the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and Dominic Solanke.
Gabriel Jesus and Nketiah have both struggled to show consistency in front of goal this season. The former has come under criticism following his missed chances in the 2-0 defeat against West Ham, despite Arsenal legend Thierry Henry defending the Brazilian striker.
