Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has expressed his excitement at the Gunners upcoming pre-season tour to the United States.
The north Londoners will travel Stateside next week as part of their preparations for the 2023/24 season. As part of the tour, Arsenal will play three games against MLS All-Stars, Manchester United and Barcelona.
This summer's trip is the second consecutive summer the Gunners have visited the United States. Last year, they beat Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea prior to their Emirates Cup win over Sevilla.
Following Thursday's 1-1 draw with FC Nurnberg, Arteta sent an exciting message to supporters based in the States ahead. «Yeah, we're going to play some big teams, and it's going to be really exciting from the support that we're going to be having and playing in the stadiums, so we're looking forward to it,» he told the club's media team.
Arsenal will arrive Stateside with three USMNT stars in Folarin Balogun, Matt Turner and Auston Trusty. All three are expected to be part of the Gunners' squad for the tour, though their participation in the triple-header is unclear.
football.london understands the club are open to offers for Balogun this summer after his impressive loan spell with Stade Reims. The 22-year-old showed glimpses of his quality in the friendly with Nurnberg but missed two huge chances to win the game.
In Trusty's case, the centre-back has continued to be linked with an exit this summer following his impressive loan spell with Birmingham City last season. Rangers and Ipswich have been credited with interest, though no official bid has been made yet.
